Can't Stop Won't Stop I My Diddy Inspired Birthday
Do I have your attention now ?
I love birthdays in general and I celebrate every single one! And I’m not talking about the humble birthdays. I believe that every birthday is indeed another milestone and a time for celebration. Last year my birthday theme was about cleansing and a fresh start. It’s so cliche but I really began to notice a change in the I woman I was becoming last year.
You can check out last year’s 26th birthday that shoot here.
This past year has been amazing. I’ve challenged and pushed myself to new heights and I’ve seen some phenomenal changes internally and externally. I am happy, genuinely happy, and my soul feels good. I’ve been able to continue to grow my brand, Live Finesse, and achieve some personal and business milestones. I finally feel like I’m aligning with the woman that I want to be.
I say all of this because this year has been “magical” to keep it short. I thought I was going to have a whimsical-unicorn themed birthday. Childish, I know but so what? When I sat down and really thought about it, I knew I wanted something with more purpose. I began to think about people that I admire and things that motivate me.
My sister keeps me humble and always reminds me that I’m just getting started, I haven’t made it but I’m on the right track. I always remind her that I am hungry, I’m ready to “eat”, and I “Can’t stop won’t stop”.
So it hit me, my 27th birthday was going to be inspired by the icon and living legend Mr. Can’t Stop Won’t Stop himself, Diddy aka Puff Daddy, aka Puffy, aka Sean Combs, aka Brother Love, aka Love. Whatever you choose to call him. Not only was I going to recreate some of his past looks, I plan to go forward with a “Diddy” hustle and a “Love” mentality.
This Monday’s The House of Finesse (THOF) newsletter theme was Diddy too, check it out here.
These are a few reasons why I love and look up to Diddy:
1. Diddy is a multipreneur/mogul
I am inspired by Diddy, the business man. It’s difficult to think of many other people who have accomplished the things that he has. Especially amongst the Black community. There are not many who can match his hustle. He is one of the richest men in hip hop and his entrepreneurial skills are impeccable. As CEO of Combs Enterprises he is known worldwide for his label/music, fashion, fragrance, beverage, spirits, marketing, film, television, media companies and more. His business endeavors have had a cultural impact and he has shown all of what can be done. Honestly, who do you know who hustles harder than Diddy?
2. Diddy’s Love
Another thing I love about Diddy is the love he has in his heart and his vulnerability. When I think about it, I’ve loved Diddy forever. I’m not talking about loving him as in a crush but loving him as a person, more like a father figure. Watching him love his kids is truly moving and reminds me a lot of my own father. He has a zest for life and it shows. He loves everyone around him. As he’s made his transition to Brother Love, his message of spreading love is infectious. He makes you want to do all you can to be a better person. The past few years I too have been focusing on the energy I put into the world in hopes that the world will give it back.
3. Diddy’s Vulnerability
We all witnessed Diddy and his family lose the beautiful Kim Porter. Diddy has been vulnerable with the world and showed us that even great people make mistakes, he showed us that mourning is okay. Currently as I type this he “off the grid”, again and I hope he’s tending to himself and practicing self-care. Even when people ridiculed him for decisions he made with Kim, he kept a cool, calm, and collected demeanor while still keeping it real. He‘s lost several people in his life like his father and Biggie but he still manages to always push through.

4. Diddy is the epitome of Black Excellence
Diddy exudes and celebrates black excellence. He still has that same grind and hunger like he did when he began working at Uptown records. Diddy wasn’t born into stardom or money - he earned it. Like many of us he started at humble beginnings and look at him now. He is always encouraging his friends, other artists, and especially the youth.
He also supports education, this is shown through his schools, Capital Preparatory Schools. He provides disadvantaged students with college and career readiness skills. Diddy understands the importance of quality education and encouraging the next generation. He helps to influence the culture to perform our civic duty of voting. And he’s very supportive of the Black community. Need I say more? Honestly, Diddy is the man.
5. Diddy gives tough love
There’s no love like tough love. Yes, it can hurt a little but it also helps to build you up to be the best you that you can be. Diddy hosts cyphers at his house to encourage up and coming artists. I can remember watching Making The Band and Da Band. He put the contestants through a lot and even made them walk to get him cheesecake but there is always a method to his madness. When I watch The Four, I love how he keeps it real with the contestants. He makes it clear that people are always coming for your spot so you have to stay hungry. In interviews his children are always talking about how he doesn’t take it easy on them. I find it commendable because he’s not settling for mediocrity, he is pushing everyone around him to become more and achieve more.

They say if you ask you shall receive so I’m manifesting and putting this into the atmosphere. Diddy, should this blog, my photo shoot, or content ever reach you, here’s my request. Can a sista get a job? Lol but in all seriousness. First and foremost I would love to meet you. I want you to know that I am ready and I’m hungry + I’m a dope creative. I would love to have you as a mentor. Let’s work, make money together, and change the world. Lastly, you know I have to party with you. Apparently there’s no party like a Diddy party. So what’s up?
I told you that I enjoy celebrating my birthday and I am 100% dedicated to this Diddy - Can’t Stop Won’t Stop theme. This goes way past the photo shoot, my “Bad Boy Family Reunion” theme birthday group chat, my t-shirt, and telling my friends that we are drinking Ciroc and Deleon all weekend, because we are supporting #BlackExcellence. I am applying this theme to my next year of life.
Diddy, thank you for continuing to be an inspiration. If there’s anything you can take away from this blog post it’s this:
When you feel like giving up, you can’t stop. Even if your dreams feel unattainable, you can’t stop. The world is truly yours, stay hungry and dedicated to your purpose.
You have to keep a hustle like Diddy and a mentality like Love. Go achieve your dreams Finessers: You can’t stop, You won’t stop! Now…
